Expert capture program
An expert capture program is the structured process by which the knowledge in an organization’s practitioners is drawn out, recorded and turned into publishable material: scheduled interviews, recorded explanations of how they handle real cases, their answers to the questions buyers actually ask, and the documents and examples they already use. It is needed when the people who know the most have the least time to write, when published content sounds like everyone else’s because it was written without them, when an authority content program must produce at scale without inventing expertise, or when an organization’s knowledge lives in a few heads. The program produces a capture schedule the experts can keep, a growing archive of verified first-hand material, and the raw substance from which signed pages are built.

Questions
Asked before engaging.
How much of the expert’s time does this take?
Less than writing. A recorded conversation produces material for several pages. The schedule is set in the proposal.
Is captured material published as is?
No. It is the source. Pages are drafted from it, verified against it and signed by the expert. See Expert sign-off and authorship.
What about confidential client detail?
Examples are anonymized and generalized before drafting, and experts approve what appears.
