Becoming an entity the engines recognize, retrieve and quote.
Generative engine optimization is the discipline of being chosen as a source by systems that generate answers rather than list links. It is content engineering, entity engineering and measurement, run continuously.
How answer engines choose
Ranking first is neither necessary nor sufficient. Being quotable is.
Retrieval systems do not rank the web the way Google did in 2015. They retrieve candidate passages, judge them against the question, and cite the ones that are specific, well-structured, attributable to an identifiable expert or organization, consistent with what other trusted sources say, and recent. Published studies show the gap with classic ranking: almost nine in ten pages cited by ChatGPT sat at position 21 or worse in Google for the same query; cited pages were about a quarter fresher than ordinary results; in B2B, product and service pages made up between 46 and 70 percent of citations.
What we do
The signals retrieval systems use to decide who to trust.
| Capability | Scope |
|---|---|
| Entity and schema engineering | Organization, Person, Service, Article, FAQPage and DefinedTerm schema with stable identifiers; sameAs links; consistent naming across Google Business Profile, Wikidata, Crunchbase, LinkedIn, directories and associations. |
| Author and credential profiles | A profile page per expert: credentials, licenses, affiliations, publications, headshot, structured data. Every page carries a real author. |
| llms.txt and machine-readable indexes | A maintained llms.txt and llms-full.txt, clean sitemaps split by section, RSS, change-frequency signals and canonical hygiene. |
| Crawl and render readiness | All content in the HTML response; robots and Cloudflare settings verified for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Bingbot and Googlebot; log review to confirm the crawlers actually arrive. |
| Prompt share-of-voice tracking | A defined set of buyer questions run on a schedule across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews / AI Mode; share of voice, position in answer, sentiment, cited URL. |
| Citation tracking | Which page earned which citation for which prompt on which engine, and how that changed since last month. |
| Citation seeding and digital PR | Placements in the sources the engines already trust: trade press, associations, directories, Q&A platforms, podcasts with transcripts, expert commentary on live industry questions. |
| Original research | Surveys, benchmarks and data studies the engines want to cite because nobody else has the number. |
| Competitor benchmarking | Who is cited today for your prompts, with what pages, and what it would take to displace them. |
Evidence you receive
Measured monthly.
- Monthly share-of-voice report by engine and prompt cluster
- Citation ledger by page
- Crawl log summary confirming engine access
- Entity consistency audit each quarter
What we do not promise
A citation.
Engines change retrieval behavior without notice and citation follows publication with a lag. We promise the system, the standard and the evidence.
Capabilities
What it covers.
Entity and schema engineering
Entity and schema engineering makes an organization, its people and its services unambiguous to the systems that retrieve and cite sources: consistent names, stable identifiers, Organization, Person, Service, Article, FAQPage and DefinedTerm structured data on every page, sameAs links between profiles, and the same facts stated the same way everywhere the organization appears.
Learn more →02 / CapabilityAuthor and credential profiles
Author and credential profiles give every expert who signs content a real, verifiable identity: a profile page with credentials, licenses, affiliations, publications and a headshot, Person structured data, consistent external profiles, and authorship markup on every page the expert signs.
Learn more →03 / Capabilityllms.txt and machine-readable indexes
llms.txt and machine-readable indexes give answer engines and crawlers a clean, maintained map of what the site contains and what matters most: an llms.txt that describes the organization and its key pages, an llms-full.txt that lists every page with a one-line description, sitemaps split by section with honest modification dates, an RSS feed for new content, and canonical hygiene that removes duplicates.
Learn more →04 / CapabilityCrawl and render readiness
Crawl and render readiness verifies that the systems which decide what to cite can actually reach and read the site: that every word is present in the HTML response without executing JavaScript, that robots directives and Cloudflare or host settings allow the named AI and search crawlers, that nothing important is blocked or rate-limited, and that server logs show the crawlers arriving.
Learn more →05 / CapabilityPrompt share-of-voice tracking
Prompt share-of-voice tracking measures how often, and how, an organization appears in the answers generated for the questions its buyers ask: a defined set of buyer prompts run on a schedule across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, with the mentions, citations, position within the answer and sentiment recorded for the organization and its competitors.
Learn more →06 / CapabilityCitation tracking by page and engine
Citation tracking by page and engine records which of the organization’s pages are cited, for which prompts, on which engines, and how that changes month to month, so that content decisions are made on evidence of what earns citations rather than on assumptions about what should.
Learn more →07 / CapabilityCitation seeding and digital PR
Citation seeding and digital PR places the organization’s expertise in the sources that answer engines already trust and retrieve from: trade and professional press, industry associations, directories and knowledge bases, question-and-answer platforms, podcasts with published transcripts, and expert commentary on live industry questions.
Learn more →08 / CapabilityOriginal research for citation
Original research for citation produces data the organization alone can publish: surveys, benchmarks, log studies and measured comparisons that give answer engines, journalists and competitors a number they must attribute to the source.
Learn more →09 / CapabilityCompetitor citation benchmarking
Competitor citation benchmarking establishes who is cited today for the organization’s buyer prompts, with which pages, in which formats, on which engines, and what it would take to displace them.
