Quarterly executive briefing

The quarterly executive briefing is a short, in-person or remote session with leadership that steps back from the monthly figures to the questions that matter at a quarter’s distance: is the program working, what has changed in the market and the engines, where paid spend stands and whether it should change, what the next quarter’s priorities are, and what decisions leadership needs to make. It is needed when monthly reports are read but not discussed, when budget and priority decisions are made annually without evidence, when leadership wants a direct conversation rather than a document, or when the program’s direction needs adjusting. The briefing produces the quarter’s evidence summary, the discussion, the decisions recorded, and the plan for the next quarter.

Questions

Asked before engaging.

Who should attend?

The executive sponsor and whoever decides budget and priorities. It is a decision meeting, not a status meeting.

How long is it?

An hour is typical. The deck or memo is read in advance; the session is for discussion and decisions.

Does this replace the quarterly spend review?

The spend review is one part of it where paid media is in scope. See Quarterly spend review.
