AI visibility of US specialist medical groups: a 200-practice benchmark
Scheduled study. An annual benchmark of two hundred US specialist medical groups measuring, for a fixed set of patient prompts by specialty and region, how often each group is mentioned or cited by the major answer engines, which sources are cited instead, and which site properties (named clinician authorship, structured data, entity consistency, crawl access) distinguish cited groups from uncited ones. Groups are reported in aggregate and by specialty, never by name. Publication date will be announced on this page.

Research question
What the study will answer.
How visible are specialist medical groups to the answer engines patients now ask, who is cited in their place, and which observable properties of a group’s web presence are associated with being cited?
Planned method
How it will be done.
- Sample of two hundred specialist medical groups drawn by a documented procedure across specialties and regions; prompt set of patient questions by specialty, phrased as patients ask them, run repeatedly across named engines.
- Recording of mentions, citations, position and cited sources per prompt and engine; site property audit for each group: authorship, structured data, entity consistency across profiles, crawl access, performance.
- Analysis of association between site properties and citation, reported with its limits.
Why it matters
Who will use the number.
Medical groups spend heavily on paid search while patients increasingly ask engines which practice to call. A benchmark with a stated method gives group leadership a reference for where they stand and what distinguishes the groups that are cited.
Participate
How to take part.
Medical groups may ask to be included in the sample or to receive their own position against the benchmark privately. Contact us with the group’s specialty and regions.
