Evidence
Evidence is the record, artifact or observation that demonstrates a control existed and operated at a given time, in a form a third party can examine.
Extended definition
In more detail.
Configuration exports, logs, tickets, signed reviews, test results, training records and screenshots with dates are evidence; a statement that a control exists is not. Auditors sample evidence; insurers rely on it at claim; customers request it in reviews. Good evidence is produced by the control as a byproduct of operating, collected continuously and indexed to the requirements it satisfies, so that it is never reconstructed under pressure.
In our work
Where it appears.
Evidence collection and audit preparation builds the evidence base once and presents it to every examiner. The same standard applies to the claims on our published pages.
