PerplexityBot

PerplexityBot is the crawler Perplexity uses to index pages for its answer engine, which cites sources on nearly every answer it gives.

Extended definition

In more detail.

Because Perplexity is built around citations, being reachable to its crawler translates directly into the possibility of being cited. The crawler identifies itself by user agent and respects robots.txt. Perplexity’s numbered citations are stable enough that page-level citation tracking is straightforward, which makes it a useful early indicator of whether an authority program is working.
