Refresh cycle

A refresh cycle is the scheduled review of every published page at a defined interval, after which the page is confirmed current, revised with a new revision date, or retired.

Extended definition

In more detail.

Each page carries a refresh interval, typically 90 or 180 days depending on how fast its subject changes. The schedule is generated from publication and revision dates. Reviews are also triggered by events: a regulation changes, a price changes, a cited source is updated. Engines prefer current sources, and pages that have lost citations to newer competitors are usually pages nobody has reviewed. A major refresh is treated as a page credit in our plans.
