Glossary · A

Authority content

Authority content is a program of pages, each answering one defined question from a named expert’s knowledge, verified against sources, signed, dated and refreshed on a schedule.

Extended definition

In more detail.

It differs from ordinary content marketing in its source (expert capture rather than research by a writer), its accountability (expert sign-off), its verification (every claim sourced), its structure (answer first, specification enforced) and its maintenance (refresh cycle). It is what answer engines retrieve and cite, because it is specific, attributable and current. Glossary entries, comparisons, checklists, question pages and video transcripts all count; social posts do not.
