Click-through rate
Click-through rate is the proportion of people who click a link, advertisement or result after seeing it.
Extended definition
In more detail.
In search it measures how often a listing is clicked relative to how often it appears; in advertising it measures clicks per impression. Click-through rate is a diagnostic rather than an outcome: a high rate on an advertisement that produces no inquiries is spend without return. As generated answers absorb clicks, click-through rates on organic listings fall for queries where an answer appears, which is one reason share of voice has replaced rankings as the visibility measure.
In our work
Where it appears.
Click-through rate appears in the operating dashboard as a diagnostic; the executive report measures cost per qualified inquiry. See dashboard.
