Cost per click

Cost per click is the amount an advertiser pays each time someone clicks a paid advertisement, set by auction among competing advertisers.

Extended definition

In more detail.

In professional categories such as legal, medical and financial services, the auction price per click is among the highest anywhere, and it rises as more firms bid. Cost per click is frequently reported as a performance measure, but it says nothing about whether the click became an inquiry. An account that reduces cost per click by attracting cheaper, less relevant clicks has got worse while appearing to improve.

In our work

Where it appears.

We manage paid accounts to cost per qualified inquiry, not cost per click. See budget and bid governance.
