Mention

A mention is an appearance of an organization’s name inside a generated answer without a linked citation to one of its pages.

Extended definition

In more detail.

Mentions show that the engine associates the organization with the question; citations show that it relies on a specific page. Both are recorded in share-of-voice measurement, with position within the answer and sentiment. An organization that is mentioned but not cited often has a strong entity and weak content; one that is cited but not mentioned by name often has the reverse. The pattern tells the program what to fix.

Mentions and citations are reported separately in the monthly evidence report, by engine and prompt cluster.
