Structured data

Structured data is information on a web page organized in a defined, machine-readable format, most commonly JSON-LD using the schema.org vocabulary.

Extended definition

In more detail.

Structured data lets a page state facts explicitly rather than leaving them to be inferred from prose: this organization has this name and address, this article was written by this person on this date, this service is offered to this audience. Engines use it to populate knowledge graphs, to attribute content and to present rich results. It is validated with public testing tools and should be generated from the content source so that page and markup never disagree.

In our work

Where it appears.

Our build generates structured data per template and the quality gate fails if any block does not parse. See static build and deployment.
