Schema markup
Schema markup is structured data added to a web page, using the vocabulary published at schema.org, that states what the page and its contents are in a form machines can read.
Extended definition
In more detail.
Markup tells engines that a page describes an organization, a person, a service, an article, a question and answer, or a defined term, and states the properties of each. It is usually embedded as JSON-LD in the page head. Markup does not make weak content strong; it makes good content unambiguous. Inconsistent or incorrect markup is worse than none, because it asserts facts the engine then has to reconcile.

Every page on this site carries schema matched to its template, generated from the build so it cannot drift. See entity and schema engineering.
